Subject: [Perldl] PDL3 Hackathon May 4, 2014 at DCBPW 2014

PDL Users and Developers-

I'm working on a wiki page for the upcoming PDL3 hackathon

in Silver Spring, Maryland next month

  http://dcbpw.org/dcbpw2014/

and I wanted to get feedback for ideas for coding and to get a notion of how
manyfolks might be able to attend.

N.B. There *will* be a PDL3 hackathon even if it is just me coding in a
corner! :-)

The hackathon is an excellent way to get some face-to-face

time in the PDL developer community and an opportunity to

generate some solid momentun on the PDL2 to PDL3 transition.

This doesn't mean that PDL2 capabilities will be going away,

but that enhancements going forward will be based on a new, streamlined,
refactored architecture and package structure.

On my end, I'm pushing to finish the PDL2 64bit indexing

support for an official release so that work at the hackathon

can start from known footing. If anyone has any PDL fixes or code they
would like to see in PDL-2.008, now would be the time to push them. We can
always use help closing bug tickets at sf.net.

More to come!

Chris
