Interesting. And what happens about XSUB compatibility?
A recent conversation with Arthur left me with the impression that as long as the extensions restrict themselves to the apis documented in perlapi and perlxs then they'll be catered for through emulation.
APIs are unlikely to be sufficient on their own. What about the internal data structures, I can't see them being preserved. I suspect some of the more 'adventurous' XSUBs that fiddle with ties and magic will probably break.
