Considering the many modules that are available for handling emails, it would be motivated IMO to let the answers in perlfaq9 reflect that fact.
Specifically I recently suggested in a post to clpmisc that Mail::Sender should be mentioned as a full-fledged alternative to MIME::Lite for sending mail with attachments:
