Title: RE: FYI: Y2K problems on computers

A midnight on Friday, December 31, 1999, the world will celebrate to wellcome
a new millenium. It's too bad that we going to have an unparalleled computer
crisis with  thousands of malfunctioning computers.

The year 2000 problem is also called the Y2K. A decade ago, computer
programmers decided to use only  the last two digits of a year in referring to
a date to save on the high cost of computer memory.  Although there is no
problem during the 20th century, it will, however, bring a lot of problems
when we enter into the 21st century.

Many companies spend billions of dollars to make sure that their computer
systems will keep working on January 1, 2000. Recently Microsoft reported that
most of its programs were Y2K compliant. There are two applications that are
not compliant, the Microsoft's Word for DOS version 5.0 word processor and
Accces 2.0 database manager. Replacement software is needed to run these
    applications..
Windows 95 will have such a problem with the ' find file' utility that will
cause errors when sorting results by date. It will require a 'software patch'
    to fix this problem.
