http://www.adsjakarta.or.id/ On the 14th August 1998, IDP Education Australia Ltd (IDP) entered into an agreement with the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) for the off-shore management of the Australian Development Scholarship (ADS) Program in Indonesia. The Australian Development Scholarship Program funds Indonesians for higher degree study in Australia through a joint selection process overseen by the Government of Australia and the Government of Indonesia and consistent with mutually agreed general policy objectives. The off-shore component of the ADS Program is managed by IDP through an IDP established ADS Project Office in Jakarta to ensure efficient end effective administration of the ADS scheme in Indonesia. Number and length of Awards The number of ADS awards each year will depend on Australian budget appropriations. In 1999/2000 ADS cycle, 345 ADS scholarships will be available for commencement in 2001. Of these the scholarships will be allocated as follows : 2/3 (i.e. 220) will be public category awards and 1/3 (i.e. 110) will be open category awards; an equal number of awards will be offered to men and women. The gender equity policy will be applied to Eastern and Western provinces separately; at least 30 percent (99) of awards offered to applicants from the Eastern provinces; 70 percent (231) of awards at Masters level and 30 percent (99) at PhD level; if there are sufficient numbers of suitable candidates, 35 percent (38) of awards in the open category will be allocated to applicants from private universities; and 165 awards will be offered in the development priority area of economic governance and political and social development. The length of the ADS scholarship is for the minimum period needed to complete the award. This is determined by the university.
