Title: The internet and identity politics in Indonesia: New Spaces for
Democracy?

Join us for a seminar led by Merlyna Lim, PhD candidate, University of
Twente, Netherlands. Born and raised in Bandung, Indonesia and trained as
an architect at the Bandung Institute of Technology, Ms. Lim is currently
researching issues of the socio-political impacts of the internet. She
examines its potential as a tool for democratic social movements in
Indonesia. She is the recipient of a fellowship from the Royal Dutch
Academy of Science working at the Center for Science, Technology, and
Society Studies. The seminar poses the question of the role of the
internet and prospects for democracy in Indonesia's post-Suharto era.
