Hi folks!

Here I send my personal review to all who want to save some money on long distance calls. This is not an ad by Yahoo! But you can try for yourself if you have never done it. I have an experience with it that I want to share with you all. Hope it will be usefull for you.

First, I have been using Yahoo! Messenger for several years. Thats fine along with my Yahoo! Email. Secondly, when I have my new [built in wireless-multimedia] notebook PC that I bought early this year I tried to use it with Yahoo! Messenger with Voice. And thats fine, too. So, I built a network with those who used the same service to chat DX (long distance) PC-to-PC for FREE. Sometimes, I turned on my WebCam when I chatted. Just for those who I knew well like my relatives overseas. Many of you have a dream like this would happen long times ago. There you go. Now it happens already for FREE.

I am a licensed hamradio operator, too. [search: AB2QV, on http://www.qrz.net]. I like to communicate DX for FREE through radio wave. But in your country you have to have a license to do this. In the U.S. you may go to http://www.arrl.org to learn more about hamradio or amateur radio. You will "shakehand" with the FCC when they grant you a license once you pass the test. Then enjoy the radio world! Communication technology has been blooming. Since several years ago you can use Internet-Radio linking services such as IRLP, EchoLink, eQSO and the like. This allows hams to use their low power VHF/UHF radio to communicate each other globally (DX) via Internet. So, hamradio with VoIP is not a luxurious thing anymore in many parts of the world. One thing about hamradio is that you will never be in a private chat. There always many scanners and SWLers (Short Wave Listeners) out there that can monitor the frequencies. These all are parts of the hobby, too.

If you want to be in a private sometimes then lets go back to Yahoo! communication. Since several days ago an announcement has been pop up on my screens (desktop and notebook) every time I am on fiber optic. It tells that Yahoo! has launched their Internet phone arsenal. So, I downloaded the Beta 7.5 version of Yahoo! Voice. Installed it right away on both my desktop and notebook. This capability will let you to phone out from and in to your PC with less money. Their DX phone is dirt cheap! They call it "Yahoo! Voice Phone Out and Phone In" services. But you have to download Yahoo! Messenger Beta 7.5 version to enjoy both Yahoo! Messenger with Voice (PC-to-PC) for free and Yahoo! Phone Out/In involving your $. Again this communication can only be done through your multimedia desktop PC or multimedia notebook PC (stereo headset, mic and speakers included). Moreover, using YM you can turn on your WebCam, share your photoes, send SMS etc.

First experience with Yahoo! Phone Out I spent US$10.00 to call out my relatives overseas. It cost me $0.029/mnt to call their home phones in the capital city, $0.079/mnt to call their home phones in other cities and $0.120/mnt to their mobile units. Other places may have different charges. The Beta group need your feedback, indeed. I gave them my feedback such as I have heard chipmunk or echo when my counterparts talked via their home phones. Same thing when they heard me. But it was better (louder and clearer) when I called the mobile units vise versa.

If you want to let your friends call you in then you need to get a digital phone numbers. US$2.49/month for a Phone In digital numbers (e.g. 999-cq-ab2qv or 999-272-2278) so anyone can call in to your PC. [I do not subscribe the Phone-In number yet]. I like to call out from my wireless notebook PC from home or when I travel instead. So, this Yahoo! Phone Out/In is a good backup for your mobile unit. Especially, when you travel away that your mobile unit will be costly or not work at all. For the Beta or just now, Yahoo! Phone Out can only be accessed from the U.S., French, Germany, Italy, Spain, Singapore and Hongkong to almost all home phones and mobile units all over the world. Give it a try or compare with those from Skype or any other VoIP services. See which one you like. To learn more: http://voice.yahoo.com. Give them your feedback whether you like it or not.

Hope this helps you. Have a nice day!
