Hi Bruce,

I understand that you have some doubts why we want to make pervasive
surveillance harder and if pervasive
surveillance is bad and draft-farrell-perpass-attack-00.

I encourage you to read the Universal Declaration Of Human Rights [1]. Your
country is a signatory to this declaration.

You do not need to read the entire declaration. In fact I only ask you to
read the Preamble itself. You do not
have to read any further than the second sentence of the Preamble which
reads:

"Whereas disregard and contempt for human rights have resulted in barbarous
acts which have outraged the
conscience of mankind, and the advent of a world in which human beings
shall enjoy freedom of speech and
belief and freedom from fear and want has been proclaimed as the highest
aspiration of the common people"

North Korea, East Germany and the Stasi are just some examples where
pervasive surveillance and the violation of
this declaration leads to.

I also understand that you are saying 'that you have nothing to hide'.

I encourage you to book a holiday in Iran. While there please browse some
gay websites. Then see what happens
to you when you leave the country and please report back to us your opinion
on pervasive surveillance afterwards.

I promise a mind-changing experience.

I am happy for you that you are living in a bubble where all this does not
concern you (I really am). But sadly it
concerns others and luckily we do not design the properties of the Internet
to fit just your needs.

Further on your "I have nothing to hide" argument I kindly ask you to
install a video camera on
your toilet and send the link of the webcam to this list. Still nothing to
hide? Feeling good?

There was also the discussion why we lock our house doors. There is some
similarity with pervasive surveillance.
Maybe you should hand a copy of your key to us.

This way we can come around, unannounced and on our terms, without telling
you, at any time, just to
check up on you to make sure you are alright. It's for your own good!

And that's what's happening with pervasive surveillance and there is an
overwhelming consensus that this
is not for our own good!

regards,

skyper
