I looked at your install guide, and actually rebuilt apache according to it
- but still have the same issue.

In ports.conf

Listen 1.2.3.4:443 https

In virtualhost conf

Namevirtualhost 1.2.3.4:443
<virtualhost 1.2.3.4:443>
...
SSLEngine On
SSLCertificateFile /path/to/crt
SSLCertificateKeyFile /path/to/key
SetEnvIf User-Agent ..*MSIE.*. nokeepalive ssl-unclean-shutdown
</virtualhost>

The config works fine on another non-peruser apache server, but falls down
on the peruser build. I installed pound to try and resolve the issue -
however this is giving peculiar results, throwing apache into rewrite loops
- again, code that works fine on a normal apache build.
