Dear Pest List Members, We have several large bales of flax in various stages of processing towards weaving of linen cloth that we will be installing in our galleries soon. Although this material represents a relatively low potential for infestation it is coming from an agricultural environment, so we are somewhat concerned. Ideally we would freeze the material as a precaution, but arranging this is proving to be difficult.
Would there be any benefit to installing a UV light trap to attract and capture any adult insects that might emerge from the bales while installed? I'm thinking of this as a potential method of monitoring for active and evolving infestation. Does anyone have experience with UV light traps? Is there any merit in this line of thinking? Many thanks for any comments and/or suggestions. All best, Kathleen Kathleen Kiefer, Conservator -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Museumpests" group.
