If I'm not mistaken the first 3 photos show where one or several hide beetles chewed their way into the pages of the book in order to pupate. I've seen hide beetles riddle wooden timbers in an old building where rabbit fur hides were stored prior to processing for their fine fur used for felt Stetson hats.
