The first (the beetle) is a rove beetle (Staphylinidae). The second is a spring
tail (Collembola). These likely wandered in beneath the exterior door. This is
enlightening; that is, if you see the light beneath the door, you might install
a good weather- and insect-resistant door bottom or sweep to keep out the
riffraff as well as more risky creatures.
