Bernice,

Contact some food processing facilities in the Philly region and ask them about
their pest control service contractors. The Food Safety Modernization Act
requires a proactive approach to pest management, so monitoring is very big in
that industry. And it matters where in a facility pests were detected, so they
should be used to providing that kind of data. Also, if you monitor for
rodents, ask contractors if they use electronic rodent monitoring
devices...they provide real-time data regarding when and where a catch was made.

Subject: [pestlist] pest monitoring contractor

Has any one used an outside contractor to do your pest monitoring? Our museum
has a robust IPM policy and system in place, but we are struggling to find
staff time to carry out the trap checks. We had a contract for a couple of
years with a large national pest control company, but found the data format did
not meet our needs: for example they could tell us how many moths were found
over the entire institution but breaking that data down into rooms and traps
required a huge amount of processing on my end.
I noticed that Steritech has merged with Rentokil—has anyone had any positive
experiences with them? Anyone else?

Thanks!
Bernice

Hi Alison,

I believe I've found some similar moths in my IPM rounds, and so would also be
glad if anyone else knows what they are!
I'm sure you've come across this before, but it's new to me and -while a bit
overwhelming at times- has been a great help for identifying some of the
weirder moths I've come across:

Hello all,

We found these small (~1/8") insects in a blunder trap placed in an office.
The office is on the 3rd floor of our Manhattan location. Can anyone help me
identify them? Your responses are greatly appreciated!
