This small beetle (about 1/8" long) was squashed after emerging from a shot
hole in a wooden object imported from Argentina.  It is obviously a wood
borer, but the owner is afraid that it's friends may now be infesting her
house, since the object had been there for 9 months before the emerging
insect was noticed.  Any help here?  I told them I would try to find out if
a fumigation of their house is warranted. Another anecdote that I thought
curious:  the owner noted that a few dead ones were found underneath where
the object had been sitting (not kept, apparently).  What would cause mass
demise upon emergence?
