Hello pest listers, Recently our city took down a totem pole that was outdoors and it is being stored indoors temporarily. As the temperature was slowly increased, insects emerged. I haven’t been to the offsite storage but I had the staff that check on it bring me a sample (technically it doesn’t fall under the area I’m responsible for but I’ve become the go-to bug person). I’m told they are all over the pole and there are tiny flying black insects as well. I’m thinking the ones in the photo are fungus gnats in late pupa stage? The largest is 2mm long. Apologies for the photo quality, this was the best I could get with what we have. I’m hoping we will get a microscope in the near future.
