But, those last ones don’t pose any risk to the museum. I wonder how many of the existing pests would have been trampled by the parade of larger shod feet of visitors. Of course, those persons track in food and other debris on which the pests feed, so it is constant struggle. Perhaps, schedule periodic performances of Irish step, Flamenco or tap dancing to tamp down the wee beasties. On second thought, that might stir the mummies and crack the sculptures, so not such a brilliant idea. I would think visitors carry in a lot of carpet beetles and moths, and other things tracked in on shoes etc, and constantly opening doors far more likely to allow pests to enter. But i am glad they are raising public consciousness about the importance of IPM.
