Adrian, Patrons, themselves, tend to be more concerning pests than are the wee beasties that accompany them. The significance of harm is inversely proportional to the number of legs. I’d rather have handfuls of millipedes than several cockroaches or any number of persons.
I have dealt with innumerable worries and complaints (none well-founded) of lice and bed bugs on museum patrons. Would that be worth writing up?
