Adrian,

Patrons, themselves, tend to be more concerning pests than are the wee beasties
that accompany them. The significance of harm is inversely proportional to the
number of legs. I’d rather have handfuls of millipedes than several cockroaches
or any number of persons.

I have dealt with innumerable worries and complaints (none well-founded) of
lice and bed bugs on museum patrons. Would that be worth writing up? I’ll have
to think about that.

Flamenco dancing on an IPM Risk assessment – H&S would love that!

I brought bed bugs back from Rome many years ago and when I worked at the
Museum of London one jumped off my tie onto my office desk!

As a matter of interest, has there been any particular work on confirmed pests
brought in by the public

It might make a good article

Adie

I have totally seen carpet beetles and even wasps hitching a ride on people.
Also had someone report a silverfish crawling out from under someone’s starched
dress shirt collar! JTV
