Get wiring diagrams of the cases before anyone drills to inspect with a
borescope. Get someone to see if you can fish a borescope above the "clouds" in
the island exhibit to inspect that area. The clouds looks like a great hiding
place for moths to me. The wall built ins you will need to see above and below
those. I looked the exhibit up and there are a lot of hiding places. CimeXa is
a silica gel dust that the pest company can puff in hiding spots and voids.

You need to see above if its a drop ceiling and below everything even if it
means drilling a small hole and getting a borescope in there to make sure you
don't have moths hiding in voids. Get micro tools to vacuum under every crack
and crevice to get dust out first. then voids can have CimeXa dust puffed into
them to help break the cycle. JTV

What type of flooring? Is there a gap at all at the bottom of the cases?

Hello!
We have been struggling with outbreaks of clothes moths on our taxidermy on
exhibit. While we are working with our contract pest control services to
adequately treat for the pests, we are also planning an in-depth cleaning of
all the taxidermy specimens this month.
Our exhibit consists of four large island/walk-around dioramas along with five
dioramas around the perimeter behind glass. The islands do have access panels
inside, but the specimens are secured on top. The perimeter dioramas have
narrow or limited access without removing the glass.
Unfortunately, freeze treating the specimens is not an option. Most of the
mounts are quite large (there are three bison on one diorama island) or very
secured (that is, the specimen supports are embedded into the scenic diorama
island).
Other than the pheromone traps, what other treatment options are there that
won’t potentially harm the specimens or our visitors?
I’d appreciate any feedback, recommendations, or anecdotal stories you may have!
Thanks,
Leslie
