Hi Alexandra, I would be happy to talk to you about some of the challenges and successes we have had at Parks Canada on this topic within our network of collection facilities and national historic sites.
It might be easier to do in a virtual meeting rather than a really long email, I don't see your email address in your signature but feel free to reach out to me directly to set up a little meeting ([email protected]) Best wishes, Megan Megan O'Connor Pronouns: Her/She | Pronom : Elle Preventive Conservation Specialist / Collections, Curatorial and Conservation Branch Parks Canada / Government of Canada 1800 Walkley Road, Ottawa, Ontario, K1H 8K3 343-543-0062 /[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Spécialiste de la conservation préventive / Direction des collections, de la conservation et de la restauration Parcs Canada / Gouvernement du Canada 1800 Rue Walkley, Ottawa, Ontario, K1H 8K3 Parks Canada - 450 000 km2 of memories / Parcs Canada - 450 000 km2 de souvenirs From: 'Wade, Alexandra' via MuseumPests <[email protected]> Sent: June 15, 2022 9:14 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [PestList] Monitoring figures COURRIEL EXTERNE - FAITES PREUVE DE PRUDENCE / EXTERNAL EMAIL - USE CAUTION Good afternoon list, I hope you're all well. I am currently writing an IPM instructions document for our institution. One of the questions that often comes up is at what point do you have enough pests to qualify for interventive treatment? Whilst attempting to get to zero pests is lovely I'm not sure that's something that can be realistically achieved in most institutions. So, if for example you have a catch of silverfish in one of your traps, how many would one catch before saying you have too many and need to put down some pesticide? 5/10/20? Considering the blunder traps are only a small representation of floor space in the store if you have say 10 silverfish in the traps I assume that the amount of silverfish in the store overall is much greater. Does anyone have a hard cut off line for what is a reasonable amount of pest activity or a "manageable" amount? Or if you just have some thoughts on the topic that would be great!
