Hi Mike

the two related beetles (Anobiidae) are often confused, but Tony's statement is
absolutely correct with "Stegobium paniceum"

Other distinguishing features are the shape of the head (side view) and the
antennae (saw- and club shaped)

Best Stephan

Biscuit Beetle (Stegobium paniceum) - also known as Drugstore Beetle. Furniture
Beetles (Anobium punctatum) are darker, not so hairy, and have a more
pronounced hump on the thorax.

The other option is a Bisuit Beetle (Stegobium paniceum). They look very
similar, but do not eat wood.

Hi Mike,

That looks like a Anobium punctatum (common furniture beetle) -
https://www.nhm.ac.uk/take-part/identify-nature/common-insect-pest-species-in-homes/furniture-beetle-anobium-punctatum-identification-guide.html

It is a woodboring beetle species.

Best wishes,
Cathryn

Dear Pestlisters,

I would love your help in identifying this insect. It is 2 to 3 mm in size. I
am leaning towards a kind of woodboring Beetle but it I am not sure. Hope you
can help me.

With kind regards,
