It simply wandered indoors from outside. It is no threat to collections, however, the carcass may be large enough to house a carpet beetle larva. Others in this family of beetles are the elm leaf beetle, Colorado potato beetle, tortoise beetles, the locust leaf miner, flea beetles, the spotted cucumber beetle, and the asparagus beetle.
