The building was originally constructed in 1923 and the room is only used sporadically.
To reign in the silverfish, our local pest control contractor has proposed spraying the crevices around the radiators and bookcases with Phantom as the next step. Any concerns or additional recommendations? The silverfish are in alcoves near radiators/bookcases, see: http://content.lib.washington.edu/u?/libart,228 Would you suggest any other environmental controls besides these?: *increase monitoring both visually and with glue boards *increase cleaning of the area (including books) *install environmental monitor and make an effort to keep room cooler/drier *consider removing books from the alcove area *seal cracks, hiding places and eliminate any sources of humidity Thanks for any help you can provide, Stephanie __________________________________ Stephanie Lamson Preservation Librarian University of Washington Libraries [email protected] 206-543-4890 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To send an email to the list, send your msg to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this list send an email to [email protected] and in the subject put: "unsubscribe" - no quotes please.
