While P. audax can be very commonly encountered species, it does not produce a sac that looks like this. The egg sac looks like it belongs to a corinnid or gnaphosid spider. The older literature would list many of the corinnid species as belonging to the family Clubionidae. Hi Ingrid Neuman, RISD Museum of Art. The casing or "home" was discovered in a recess within a wooden sculpture believed to be composed of Cryptomeria wood. Any suggestions would be most welcome.
