Dear Mrs Byrne,
these ufos are oothecae from cockroaches (Family Blattidae). On the first view it may be a species from the genus Periplaneta (but not Periplaneta americana). I will compare the picture with my collection of oothecae to identify the species. Do you have cockroach problems in the museum. If yes, the name or a picture of this species may make the identification of the oothecae easier.

Can anyone tell me if the attached image is castings of larder beetles? They measure about 12 mm in length and were found in the crevice between a painting on wood and its wood frame, with boring damage to the painting. Thanks.
