Some measures have been taken (at a higher level than I!) to reduce the
spam coming through the mailing list system. You won't have seen it,
since it comes to poor sods like me to manually process as coming from
non-subscribers, but this is a job which improved spam checking ought to
assist with.
Amongst the changes, a greylisting approach is being used which in
essence rejects mail from anyone (initially), but accepts it after a
retry then remembers that user (specifially sender and IP address combo)
for future. Since any well behaved mail server should retry this should
only cause a delay of about 10mins to 1hr on first post to the list,
then no effect after that. (Spammers send to too many addresses to be
retrying after 10 mins, or at least that's the theory.)
Basically, what I'm saying is in the event of problems let me know
off-list and I'll investigate. But expect a short(ish) delay after first
post (and that includes regular posters who haven't posted since the
system was enabled).
