Anyone any ideas?
After many months of happy activity, my SUSE box now refuses to connect
to the DHCP server - or to be more accurate refuses to interact with it.
The lights flash but nothing happens! I have obviously done something
stupid!
If I give the machine a fixed IP it sort of works, but nothing
recognises its host name of frodo. Pinging its IP address was OK, and I
could get to it via HTTP
Following boot up the console log said this:
frodo nmb [745] nmb/nmb_subnetdb.c:create_subnet(240)
frodo nmb [745] create_subnets: No local interfaces
frodo nmb [745] nmb/nmb.c:main(861)
frodo nmb [745] Error: Failed when creating subnet list. Exiting
frodo modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module char_major_10_134
Running ifconfig confirmed that the network interface seemed to be
working, but there was no external IP address. My DHCP server was
simply no able to give it an IP address despite th fact that its light
was flashing to say there was some sort of communication with it!
Any ideas please?
