Thanks again Andy,
My intallation of SuSE 10.1 came from the LXF82 DVD (August 2006 issue).
The package is already installed following the instructions in the link I
sent earlier. I am now stuck at the next stage (
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/manual_install_linux.html#note - Item 3 & 4)
Manual Registraton of Java Plug-in. I have both Konqueror and Firefox
Browsers and would like to register the Plug-in with those browsers.
There are times when we owe it to ourselves and to the ones around us to
share what we know and feel. And there are times when we simply have nothing
to offer, and best serve everyone by saying nothing. Perhaps the wisdom
comes in being able to recognize the difference.
Peace,
Eron

do anything for an easy life!
Eron,
Firstly what media did you install from - was it CD or DVD? If it was DVD
just insert the disc and open up YaST and search for Java.
If it was CD, how many discs do you have - 5 or 6? It might sound strange,
but for the likes of Java and other non-Open Source packages you will
require the Add-On CD (which makes the total 6 CDs).
If you don't have the media, try using the SMART package manager - the best
place to get it is from Pascal Blesser's site
[http://linux01.gwdg.de/%7Epbleser/rpm-navigation.php?cat=System/smart/].
Install it as any other RPM; and then when you open up SMART make sure you
click update first then search for Java.
Ultimately if neither options work, let me know and I'll put the RPMs up
for download (got a bit of a thin tube to the interweb so it won't be the
fast option).
Hope it helps,
Andy
