Thanks again Andy, My intallation of SuSE 10.1 came from the LXF82 DVD (August 2006 issue). The package is already installed following the instructions in the link I sent earlier. I am now stuck at the next stage ( http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/manual_install_linux.html#note - Item 3 & 4) Manual Registraton of Java Plug-in. I have both Konqueror and Firefox Browsers and would like to register the Plug-in with those browsers. Eron, I'm going to hijack the latest issue of Linux Format here (LXF85), as I think this should help you - this is verbatim: [snip] Mozilla and Firefox plugins can be installed in one of two places, depending on whether you install as root or a user. System-wide plugins and extensions are stored in /usr/lib/firefox/plugins and /usr/lib/firefox/extensions, respectively. Those installed by a user, which happens when you install directly from a website such as http://plugindoc.mozdev.org or http://addons.mozilla.org, go into the appropriate directory under the user's home directory. This is .mozilla/firefox/xxx.default, where xxx is some random string of characters. [snip] Hope this gets you up and running with Java.
