Richard

Have a look at this how-to, it may answer a lot of questions that you
have:

http://www.howtoforge.com/the_perfect_desktop_fedora_core6

I think most of it can be applied to FC-4, however if you like the look
of it and don't want to download the FC-6 discs then give me a shout and
I can lend you my dvd copy.

As for games:

I currently run COD and CODUO on my Ubuntu box. They're not perfect yet
but playable.

Look for an installer called "loki" on google which simplifies the
installation of a lot of games, including Battlefield2, which I have but
haven't tried yet under linux.

To perk your interest, on COD I found that I was getting 15 to 20 FPS
more under Ubuntu than I was with XP.

Video Editing and Firewire:

As Mark said firewire (both 400 and 800) have been well supported since
kernel 2.4.*.

For video editing have a look at Kino. (try linux google or the FC
repo's)

Re your pen drive:

Post what errors you are seeing and we can possibly help out. It may be
something that is easily resolved but we could do with a little bit more
information.

Re your dictaphone:

I don't know, I have never tried installing one. If you are coming to
the meeting them bring it with you and we can have a go at getting it
going. After all, two (or indeed several) heads are better than one!

I think Mark has pretty much covered the rest.

Look forward to meeting you on Tuesday.

Stu
