Hi guys,

Just wanted to say thanks for welcoming me to the LUG meeting and it was
nice to meet so many like-minded individuals, have to say i was a bit
nervous (yes, me nervous....I know) about coming at the last minute as I
thought maybe this was something above my level and that i wouldn't be able
to understand what everyone was talking about, but i was quite surprised to
find out I am not the complete virgin I thought I was.

I do only know a very tiny bit (but I guess my vi skills made me look
uber-geek lol) when it comes to Linux, and I really was impressed by the
ubuntu / beryl demonstration by Mark Rogers, i would be interested in
playing around with a Unbuntu Boot disk (distro) on my big computer (which
has among other cool stuff in it, a 256meg x800 ATI Graphics card) which
seemed to handle my Kororaa XGL Distro quite well, although it ghosted a bit
after while and also would not play video if the cube was rotated etc.. but
i put this down to the fact that it is a distro not a full installation. the
wobbly windows are fun to play with, like Stuart said, not very

If anyone knows where i can get a bootable Distro with ubuntu and beryl
already configured can they send me a link? I'd like to play around a bit
first.

And thanks to Brairen? and Tony? sorry forgot your names, or cant spell them
sorry, the two Americans who help me with the escape codes for prompt
colors, i will let you all know how I progress with this once I have had a
play. I have a busy schedule this week training for a Blue belt judo grading
this coming Sunday so I may not get much chance to sit down and tweak things
until the latter part of next week, but after the meeting I am feeling
decidedly upbeat about ditching XP as and when my Main computer is ready for
an OS spring clean and the move to Linux, (from what i have seen so far, I
may go with ubuntu for the main pc).

Once again thanks everyone for your support, I felt most welcome at my first
LUG and even though it was a bit crowded but surely thats a good thing.

Cheers Guys (and see I'm not that scary really....:-) )
