yes there is a fixed pw by default but it is scrambled, coz you arent
supposed to know it.
I found a hack (how to) on the internet to set your own root password, not
sure if it will work in edgy, but in feisty, you can just reset it to
whatever you want in the GUI "users" tool!
You can also "enable it to log in at the login screen" as this is also
disabled by default.
Its dangerous to do this though so unless you are a brave soul I would stick
to just using sudo.
