Sorry, couldn't think of any suggestions last time around, but now I think about it this is a PC which has been causing you grief isn't it? It sounds like a hard disk error. Try browsing to that file and opening it directly (you could probably also just paste that file path straight into the Firefox web browser address bar), see if it opens OK. It sounds like the file cannot be read, in which case its unlikely to be the only file with problems (or if it is it probably won't be for long).
