Someone (Ed?) was asking about connecting to a VPN yesterday.

However, it won't work unless you have the network interface in "roaming
mode", which requires DHCP. To do this (if you need to - it's the
default) click on the Network Manager icon, select Manual configuration,
select your ethernet connection and go to Properties, and enable roaming
mode there.
