I have a Canon Pixma iP4300 printer, which is capable of fairly good
graphics reproduction. However, using this with CUPS seems to restrict
the resolution to 600x600 dpi, which produces some pretty uninspiring
results.
I recently purchased and installed TurboPrint. This offers complete
control over all aspects of printer configuration and I can now get
prints at the maximum resolution the printer is capable of.
Is CUPS just a very basic tool for printing, or am I missing something
that will make it perform better?
