Phil,

If you can use this BT hub you are very welcome - swap or not. It is such a waste to bin it not to mention the pollution!

If the Linksys BEFW11S4v4 will operate as a simple wireless access point, and is secure enough, and you are happy to part with it OK. If not you can have the hub anyway, and I will get an access point at a later date.

Thanks for the offer. I will bring the BT brick to PLUG next time

Words like hammer, nut and sledgehammer spring to mind! I will follow up some of your ideas and links, but it looks like being a task for a raining evening and all to get a wireless access point!

it isn't going to make a very good access point as its firmware is designed with one task in mind, ie a broadband gateway.

I think I will bring it to the next PLUG, and if you are there we can have a play?

Can do, I'm tempted to offer you a swop for an Access Point .....

would 802.11b be of interest ? Linksys BEFW11S4v4

otherwise will have to dig a bit deeper

Phil
