I expected that conclusion, although I should have mentioned that the reason I thought it would be of interest was more because the work they'd done to show whether it would work over wireless would also help us understand how many clients we can shove down a single 100Mbps network link.
Homeplug "ethernet over mains" might be more appropriate and would be a good subject for a further test.
Well if there's interest in testing this, as a Homeplug reseller we can provide some test hardware to experiment with. Newer units have rated speeds up to 200Mbps (although lower in practice). 85Mpbs units are pretty cheap these days (actually the 200Mbps aren't that expensive either).
