Interesting that BT seem to suggest a 256k ADSL service may still be possible. Perhaps this is based on there being a copper pair available. So even if you can get ADSL it will be almost useless due to the line length. > The government has ">=2mbit broadband for everyone" plans. BT are thinking about a limited FTTC rollout (a few city centre exchanges) some time in 2010. So when you look at it that way, the USO is going to be a pretty much empty promise, as by the time it comes into force there will (with any luck) be the technology to offer far better than 2mbps, and in fact 2mbps will probably woefully inadequate by that time anyway! I find it amusing how not a week goes buy without the government finding billions for one thing or another, but investment in a future fibre network which will bring in billions of tax pounds through future business is not something they are willing to spend a penny on. -- Best regards, Andy _______________________________________________ Peterboro mailing list Peterboro@mailman.lug.org.uk https://mailman.lug.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/peterboro
