<SERIOUS>
Right from the outset on my miniPC I just got a black screen. Soon as it
started loading the Boot-CD. Default system startup screen then black
accompanied by the sound of the CDROM going round, and round, and round
and....

When inserted into my main PC for purposes of comparison I get the
Xubuntu logo (a hamster going round in a wheel of Ubuntu - quite ironic
considering the circumstances) followed by options of which I pick the
Live CD (having no desire to overwrite my OS even if it IS Windows - you
don't buy a suite with Dreamweaver in and not use it) followed by lots
and lots of errors which I don't really understand.

I perhaps need other live CDs. I could do with a mini motherboard
speaker attached (might be a hardware problem with the CDROM being
attached and at the moment I have NO beep codes...). I also need to
check things with a standard size monitor attached in case there are
other options. Do that all tonight as it's a Tuesday

<IRRELEVANT>
Tuesday is always designated geek-night. The night where I go home to my
little flat and fiddle with technology in one form or other or join with
my fellow 1337 633|<5 (that last bit was irony) for a night of unbridled
linux-ness.

Maybe I should rename it 'tech night' not because I consider 'Geek'
insulting (because I don't) but rather because I'm pretty much a geek
24/7.

I don't yet have a blog. I have never LARPed. I have never drawn a
furry. I have never written fanfic.

Apart from those caveats there's few bases labelled 'Geek' or 'nerd'
that I haven't covered. Shame my Linux knowledge is so small though.

I AM 100% GEEK! The Babylon 5 DVD complete boxed set on my bookshelf
confirms this.

Just thought you might want to know that ;)

Timothy

was this when it tried to set up X-windows or before - there may be a
command line option to customise the boot into a lower res, and usually
there are options on how it detects the graphics system for Xwindows.
