Either way, my experience of installing Linux is pretty much based around the "download CD & boot from it" approach which doesn't apply here, and I haven't yet managed to grasp the concepts which do apply. It's times like this that I start to realise that I never really understood what initrd/vmlinuz/grup/etc "do"....
