I think since Android flooded the market, nearly everyone has used Linux now 
(most don't realise it) and the enphasis on.keeping Linux alive seems to have 
diminished due yo it's large market share.
For my part though, I've used Linux (and predominantly Debian/Ubuntu based) 
distros exclusively since 2006 but am strictly a "home user". Being more 
creative, I haven't learnt system admin stuff or the technical bits, but do use 
for video editing, graphics and photography, as well as usual "office" and 
admin work. Basically a normal user haha. I make this distinction, because 
although I'm a bit geeky, past PLUG meets have been a bit too geeky for me. I 
do love the enthusiasm Linux users have though, and the various uses they find 
delight in extracting from the software. :-)
