Apologies. Firstly to correct my correction, I was originally correct in thinking I had heard from Michelle, I must have just lost the email. So my thoughts on meetings reflected both Michelle's and Mark's concerns regarding the old meetings.
I haven't counted them all but we seem to have exceeded my thought that at least 5 members would be required to start of the meetings again, with the aim of course of increasing the membership to a wider audience in the future to achieve a greater spread of Linux experiences and greater sustainability of the group. So we seem to have an initial quorum. There also seems to be some traction with the idea of theme nights, possibly with a lead presentation by a Subject Matter Expert if we have one. A Plan ------ Could I suggest that the people coming up with venues firm up on their suggestions by say end next week (14Aug22). Typically, provide location and post code, day/date/time availability and any constraints. We may have younger members so licensed venues are probably not appropriate and I believe it has been said they can be a barrier to women interested in joining. Maybe everyone who has not yet suggested a venue could also have a look around and check their contacts before 14Aug22 and report back to the group any successes they have. A free venue is ideal of course but typically clubs will pay a small fee to a venue to cover heating lighting etc. Is that an option here? What do people think? Of course the more members the lower the contribution required from each member. Any suggestions for an appropriate amount? If we went this route I would suggest people under working age (18) would have free attendance. I suggest we review where we are at week begining 15Aug22. I hope the above plan is acceptable to the group. Please suggest any improvements or changes.
