13th Conference on Software Engineering and Databases - JISBD 2008 Gijón, October 7-10, 2008 http://www.sistedes.org/jisbd2008/
The Conference on Software Engineering and Databases (JISBD) has been consolidated as a reference event where Spanish, Portuguese and South-american researchers and professionals on Software Engineering and Databases can meet and discuss, disseminate and exchange ideas, share experiences and results, thus establishing a suitable collaborative forum among the different sectors and research groups in these areas. The 13th edition of this conference will be held in Gijón, in October 7-10, 2008. Accordingly to this outstanding framework for scientific and technological interchange, we aim at supporting the presentation of original quality research work, as well as experience reports, tutorials, tools demonstrations, workshops for discussing novel ideas and ongoing work, and dissemination of research work already published in prestigious journals or conference proceedings. Call for Contributions The Software Engineering and Databases conference (JISBD 2008) invites original, high quality contributions presenting research results, experience reports, tutorials, workshops and research tool demonstrations. Unless otherwise stated, the contributions may be written in Spanish, Portuguese or English. The main topics of interest include, but are not limited to: - Requirement Engineering - Process Engineering - Aspect-Oriented Software Development - Software Architectures - Design Patterns - Sofware Product Lines - Quality, Measurement and Estimation of Products and Processes - Formal Methods applied to Software Engineering - Automatic Code Generation - Component-Based Software Engineering - Model Engineering - Maintenance, Testing, Verification and Validation - Web Engineering - Service-Oriented Architectures - DBMS Technology (query optimization, transactions, security, views, etc.) - Data Modelling (conceptual or logic) - Software Evolution and Change - Enterprise Case Studies - Deductive DB, Active DB, Object and Object-Relational DB, Mobile DB, Spatial and Temporal DB - Data Mining, Data Streaming and Datawarehouse - Federated Information Systems - Documental and Multimedia DB - Information Recovery, Indexing and DB on the Web - XML and Semi-structured Data - Semantic Web and Ontologies Research Papers JISBD 2008 calls for original, high-quality contributions in which research results or experiences reports on the fields of Software Engineering and Data Bases are presented. Details on the format may be found on the conference web site. Those papers that do not follow the conference paper format, or are received later than the established deadline will be rejected without review. Moreover, all contributions must be original and cannot be submitted to, or be under evaluation in, any other event. Papers violating this rule will be rejected. Deadline for submissions: May 28, 2008 Acceptance notification: July 7, 2008 Camera-ready: July 21, 2008 Tutorials Promoting scientific dissemination and technological interchange, JISBD 2008 calls for proposals of tutorials on Software Engineering and Databases topics. The goal is offering to prospective participants the opportunity of acquiring new knowledge and skills in areas specific of these disciplines. Therefore, it is highly recommended that JISBD 2008 tutorials offer a clear outcome to attendees, either in research related aspects or their practical application. Tutorials will be half-day and a minimum number of registrants will be required. Tutorial proposals must be sent to the Tutorial Chair, António Rito Silva ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) and must keep the format specified in the conference web site. Tutorial Deadlines: Proposal submissions: April 1, 2008 Acceptance notification: May 1, 2008 Material submission: June 1, 2008 Workshops As in previous editions, JISBD 2008 will host some workshops relative to the topics of Software Engineering and Databases. Workshops are intended to serve as a collaborative forum for exchanging cutting edge ideas and theories in an evolutionary stage. We encourage prospective workshop organizers to submit proposals for highly-interactive workshops, where participants can meet and discuss. As such, it is important to take into account that a workshop should not be considered as a miniconference. The workshop proceedings will be published electronically with an ISSN, sharing all workshops a uniform format in edition and publishing. Proposals must be sent to the Workshop Chair, João Araújo ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) and must keep the format specified in the conference web site. Workshop Deadlines: Deadline for proposals: March 30, 2008 Acceptance notification: April 16, 2008 Dissemination of Relevant Work already published The growing maturity of the JISBD community can be observed from the increasing number of papers published in major journals and conference proceedings. The problem is that much of this work may remain hidden to the community because it is not presented at the JISBD conference itself, which requires original publications. For this reason, JISBD 2008 aims at collecting some of these papers with a two-folded goal: firstly, to disseminate these works in the scope of the conference; and secondly, to offer them as a guide and stimulus for the rest of the community. With this purpose, JISBD is requesting contributions consisting of papers already published in prestigious journals or proceedings of prestigious conferences. Just to give some hints, we may consider as prestigious: - If the work is published in some conference proceedings, the acceptance rate should be lower than 25%. - If the work is published in some journal, the impact factor must be greater than 0.5. It is also required that the date of celebration of the conference, or publication of the journal issue, falls within the year 2007. Proposals must be addressed to the Relevant Papers Dissemination Chair, António Vallecillo ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) will be written in English, and will follow the format published in the conference web site. The selection process will be undertaken by a committee composed of recognized international experts. The selected papers will be presented during JISBD 2008 in a specific session. The organization of JISBD 2008 will acknowledge the contribution of the authors by awarding them with a diploma. Furthermore, the summary page will be published in the conference proceedings. Dissemination Deadlines: Deadline for proposals: May 28, 2008 Acceptance notification: July 7, 2008 Summary for proceedings: July 21, 2008 Tool Demonstrations Tool demonstrations are a way to assess the practical viability of theoretical and methodological proposals issued by research groups. Therefore, in JISBD 2008 we ask for proposals of tool demonstrations. Proposed prototypes can be preliminary work but mature enough to be presented to the community. This type of contribution does not include the demonstration of commercial tools. The tools will be exhibited during the conference and a 2-page summary will be published in the conference proceedings. Proposals must be addressed to the Tool Demonstrations Chair, Lidia Fuentes ([EMAIL PROTECTED]), including a page with a brief description of the intended demonstration, as well as a justification of its adequation to the topics of interest of the conference. Demonstrations will be selected on the basis of technical merit, novelty and relevance to the Software Engineering and the Database Systems.
