The 29th Annual UK Performance Engineering Workshop (UKPEW 2013) 4th-5th July 2013 Loughborough, UK http://ukpew.lboro.ac.uk CALL FOR PAPERS UKPEW is the leading UK forum for the presentation of all aspects of performance modelling and analysis of computer and telecommunication systems. Original papers are invited on all relevant topics but papers on or related to the subjects listed below are particularly welcome. This workshop is the primary event at which the UK performance engineering community can get together to present and discuss their work. Whilst primarily aimed at UK based performance engineers, we also welcome contributions from researchers working in other countries and those whose interest in performance is derived from experience in other fields. UKPEW provides an ideal opportunity for academics, industrialists and PhD students to relate experience and to present both finished work and work in progress. The event has been organised to sustain the atmosphere of informality that previous UKPEWs have fostered. Selected papers will be invited to submit extended versions to be considered for a special issue, the details of which are still to be confirmed. TOPICS OF INTEREST Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: • Stochastic modelling of computer systems and computer networks • Tools for all aspects of performance engineering from workload characterisation to operational analysis • Modelling paradigms, including Stochastic Process Algebras, Stochastic Petri Nets and Queueing Theory • Solution and simplification techniques for large Markov processes • Formal notations for performance modelling • Modelling and analysis of reliability and performance guarantees • Performance-oriented design methods • Novel techniques in computer system simulation • Methods for performance prediction • Case studies and industrial reports • Experience and evaluation of existing tools and techniques • Performance issues in Wireless, Mobile, Ad-hoc and Sensor Networks • Performance issues in Grid markets and the Grid economy • Performance considerations in Cloud Computing • Network security and performance • Performance issues in Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IOT) networks • Systems of Systems engineering approaches for network modelling and analysis • Traffic modelling, management, QoS and associated performance issues • System dependability, availability; resilience and robustness IMPORTANT DATES • Paper submission: March 28, 2013 • Author notification: May 6, 2013 • Camera ready copy: May 20, 2013 • Registration deadline: May 31, 2013 • Workshop: July 4 & 5, 2013 SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Please submit an extended abstract (max. 2 pages) or a full paper (between 5 and 8 pages long, including figures and references). All papers should be in standard IEEE double column format (templates can be found here: http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html). Please submit a full paper if you want your paper to be considered for publication in the special issue. Paper submissions are handled through the EasyChair online submission system: https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ukpew2013
