Recently, interesting and innovative concepts, technologies, and applications
emerged from the cross-fertilization of BPM and BI/DM/KDD disciplines. Notable
examples are process mining, automatic process discovery, intelligent process
configuration, and advanced process analytics, which can be collectively
referred to as Business Process Intelligence (BPI). Therefore, ACM
Transactions on Management Information Systems (ACM TMIS) decided to organize a
special issue on "Business Process Intelligence".
