New course "Process Mining: From Theory to Execution" is now online

Students and practitioners new to process mining often struggle because process
mining textbooks and articles focus on the foundational concepts, and process
mining vendors tend to show process mining results without explaining how these
are related to the data. As a result, people cannot apply the theoretical
concepts and, when using a process mining tool, have no idea what is happening
behind the scenes.

To address this problem, Celonis and RWTH Aachen University jointly created a
new process mining course aiming to bridge the gap between the theory of
process mining and the practical application using a commercial tool and
real-life data sets. This 10-hour course is called "Process Mining: From Theory
to Execution" and can be taken anytime. Being a professor at RWTH Aachen
University and chief scientist at Celonis, I could combine both worlds, and
supported by the Celonis Academic Alliance, we created a wonderful course for
people that want to get into process mining in a quick and efficient manner.

In the first week, over 1500 people started the course. One can register via
https://www.celonis.com/wils-process-mining-class, and the course is free of
charge. After taking this compact course, participants will learn about current
trends in process mining and automation, know the key process discovery and
conformance checking algorithms, and also study comparative and predictive
process mining techniques allowing organizations to perform root cause analysis
of performance and compliance problems.

Hope to see you in our classroom! If you already know everything about process
mining, help us to promote the course and improve awareness of what is possible
using process mining.
