[petsc-dev] attaching field information to PetscLayout?

Note that visualization is another place where "field" information is
useful. This includes defining vectors and tensors. It is much more
meaningful if it also carries information about physical units instead of
some arbitrary non-dimensionalized scaling used internally. I'm prototyping
a lightweight units manager in Dohp. If it turns out to be useful, then I
think it would be natural to put it in with the IS describing a "field".
