No, we support HDF5 for vectors because it makes sense; other packages can 
read them in and do things with them (for example visualization). We don't 
support HDF5 for matrices cause it doesn't make much sense. Just use the Petsc 
binary viewers if you want to save PETSc matrices (though even doing that 
should be rarely needed), HDF5 won't be any faster.
