Can I simply ignore this step:

TSSetRHSJacobian(ts, J, J, SNESDefaultComputeJacobian, PETSC_NULL);


And get the SNES context from TS, then set the Jacobian option this way:

SNES snes;

TSGetSNES(ts, &snes);

SNESSetJacobian(snes, J, J, SNESDefaultComputeJacobian, PETSC_NULL);
