Barry, I fully understand your position regarding getting time for this type of activity so I am hoping that some users can divulge some of this knowledge...as I would be surprised that it hasn't been tried before.
If I don't hear anything in reasonable time, I'll do some investigation myself and would be more than happy to pass any findings on to the PETSc team. Regards.
