the error is from petsc code saying this codepath to plapack is buggy. If you wish to debug plapack - you can comment out the following line in src/mat/impls/dense/mpi/mpidense.c
SETERRQ(PETSC_ERR_LIB,"Due to apparent bugs in PLAPACK,this is not currently supported"); and then figureout if/why you are getting wrong numbers out of this call..
